Small Group Ministry Literature
Welcome to the ministry of small groups. This satisfying ministry is a wonderful way for everyone involved to find fulfillment and satisfaction. Each of these sessions is designed for 100% involvement in groups ideally ranging in size from as few as 4 to 6 people up to as many as 12 to 15 people.

It is important to remember that these are purposely called EDIFICATIONS and not lessons. The whole idea is lively discussion throughout the session. It is key to understand why they are called “edifications.” The Webster’s New World Dictionary of the American Language defines the word edify as “to build, construct, to instruct: especially to instruct or improve morally, or spiritually.” To put it in a spiritual context, the apostle Paul instructed, "Let all things be done unto edifying" (I Corinthians 14:26). The word "edifying" in the original Greek Scriptures in this verse was oikodome, which means “the act of building, in the sense of edification, the promotion of spiritual growth” (Vines’ Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words).

The best use of this material is in the ministry of building up one another to a strong spiritual house. This is an excellent tool of evangelism to bring the un-churched, or acquaintances from other denominations into a non-threatening setting, which will expose them to the presence of God, fellowship with believers, and also to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Those who might not come to a church service for many reasons might accept an invitation to your home. Small groups also are one of the most effective ways to build a “safety net” under new converts. One problem new converts often have is finding someone with whom they can develop community and help them to feel their part in the body of Christ as a whole.
