Dr. David K. Bernard was reelected as general superintendent of the United Pentecostal Church International during the annual ministers business session at General Conference. Bernard has served as UPCI general superintendent since 2010.
Upon the completion of his current term in December, Bernard will be the second-longest-serving general superintendent in the UPCI’s eighty-year history. Nathaniel A. Urshan holds the distinction of longest tenured general superintendent, serving from 1978 until 2001, a total of twenty-four years.
Ministers also reelected Stan O. Gleason as assistant general superintendent for the Western Zone, which encompasses all US states and Canadian provinces west of the Mississippi River. Darrell Johns was reelected as assistant general superintendent for the Eastern Zone, which spans from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic.
Adam Hunley was reelected as general director of Global Missions, and Scott Sistrunk was reelected as general director of North American Missions.
Kenneth Stewart was elected general secretary of North American Missions, filling the unexpired term of outgoing general secretary Bill Hobson, who recently became pastor of a church in Orlando, Florida. Stewart, a church planter and businessman, has been serving as director of promotions for North American Missions. A new director of promotions will be appointed later this year, per the UPCI Manual.
Steve Cannon was reelected as general director of Children’s Ministry, and D.J. Hill was reelected as general youth president of UPCI Youth Ministries.
Current Ladies Ministries Secretary Jane Buford was elected president of the ministry, succeeding current President Linda Gleason, who previously announced her intention to step down when her current term expires at the end of the year. Arkansas District Ladies Ministries President Ashlea Ison was then elected Ladies Ministries secretary.

Missouri District Superintendent Bryan Parkey was elected as general executive presbyter for the UPCI’s Western Zone. Joel Hart, Brent Brosam, and Brian Fuller were elected as regional executive presbyters for the West, Central, and South Central regions, respectively.
Richard Flowers, Rodney Shaw, and Gary Keller were elected to serve on the Ministers Appeal Council. David Reever and Jerry Holt were elected to serve on the new district formation committee for the East Region and West Region, respectively.
The General Board’s appointment of Paul Pamer to another two-year term as director of Men’s Ministries was ratified by a vote of the conference floor.
The elections took place during the UPCI’s annual General Conference, which is currently underway in St. Louis, Missouri. All credentialed UPCI ministers in attendance are eligible to vote in the business meeting.
The UPCI was founded in St. Louis in 1945, and the organization is celebrating its eightieth anniversary during the conference.
The UPCI has 12,315 credentialed ministers and 5,132 churches in the United States and Canada.
