General Conference 2022
We are looking forward to a great turnout at our upcoming General Conference, which will be held October 4-7 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. More than 11,000 people already have registered, which should make this one of the best attended conferences in recent memory. The theme of this year’s conference is “Make Him Known.” General Conference always features anointed worship and preaching, as well as the opportunity to see and hear what God is doing in the United Pentecostal Church International both in North America and around the globe.
The evening services will begin at 7 pm Tuesday through Friday, and at noon on Thursday and Friday. (All times are Eastern.) Services will be streamed live on the UPCI’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. The business session will begin at 9 am on Wednesday with a Minister’s Wives Breakfast from 10 am to noon. Breakfast tickets are still available. Thursday and Friday will feature a lineup of more than fifty seminars on topics ranging from prayer to parenting to Bible prophecy, with speakers such as Raymond Woodward, Victor Jackson, Jeff Arnold, and many more. “Just Between Us,” a special session for ladies, will begin Friday at 8:30 am. You also will want to check out the more than one hundred exhibits that will be on display throughout the week.

General Conference Ministers Session
Please join us in the Ministers Session at General Conference on Thursday, October 6, from 10:30-11:30 am. D. G. Hargrove, pastor of North Cities Church in Garland, Texas, will be speaking on Nurturing a Growth Culture. This session will be beneficial for every minister and church leader.
Overturning Roe v. Wade: Mississippi District and the NACLC
One of the best arguments that can be made in favor of the church’s involvement in the public square is the work the Mississippi District has done in advocating for pro-life policies. Their support for the 2018 Gestational Age Act in Mississippi became the foundation for the Dobbs case that resulted in the overturning of Roe v. Wade (the case that established a right to abortion). Over the years they have maintained strong relationships with statewide leaders and legislators. These relationships allow for the voice of the faith community to be considered as policy is developed.
The majority on the Supreme Court seem to be moving in the direction of the people’s voice being heard through their elected representatives. This should encourage our districts and pastors to become more involved and a member of the National Apostolic Christian Leadership Conference (NACLC). For information on membership and benefits, go to naclc.org.
SafeChurch UPCI
The UPCI is committed to equipping churches in the fight against sexual abuse. As such, SafeChurch UPCI continues to add more resources to help churches prevent abuse and to minister to survivors of abuse. Resources are available on the UPCI website including recently uploaded materials related to supporting survivors. Training videos are accessible via Ministry Central, with a new video released every two months. Supplemental resources are available for credentialed ministers at upciministers.com. Together we can create a culture of safety in which no one is abused, and no abuse is covered up.
Faith & Blue Weekend
The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has invited UPCI churches to participate in the third annual Faith & Blue Weekend on October 7-10. Faith & Blue is based on the premise that law enforcement and faith-based institutions are key pillars of every community, and when they work together, neighborhoods thrive. On Faith & Blue Weekend, churches are invited to partner with local law enforcement agencies to host events such as community service projects, parades, open houses, or any other activity that strengthens the relationships between churches, law enforcement, and the community. Visit FaithandBlue.org to learn more or to get involved.
Sincerely in Christ,
David K. Bernard
