Prayer for Persecuted Believers
Your prayers and support are urgently needed as the flames of persecution spread across the following nations.
- Myanmar – In Chin State, where we have thousands of believers, many pastors and saints have been forced to flee for their lives after their homes and churches were set on fire. One beautiful church that had recently been dedicated was burned to the ground.
- India – In the state of Manipur, hundreds of believers have had their homes destroyed and churches ransacked and burned due to tribal warfare.
- Pakistan – In the city of Jaranwala, our pastors and believers watched as churches and homes were broken up and set on fire by angry mobs.
- Papua New Guinea – Enga Province in the Central Highlands has suffered tragic tribal warfare. Although 87 were recently baptized in this newly evangelized area, eight UPC churches were burnt to the ground, five church members were killed, and all residents fled for their lives.
Please pray for protection, provision, an end to the senseless killings, and repatriation.
Philippine Summit
The first Philippine Summit was held in Manila, Philippines, in August. It focused on how the Filipino diaspora can continue to help evangelize the world. From the summit came a proposal for the United Pentecostal Church of the Philippines to establish a Global Missions Department similar to the efforts of other national churches such as North East India, Australia, and Brazil. The proposal will go to the UPCI Global Council, the fellowship of affiliated churches around the world that coordinates international ministry and evangelism efforts. This new endeavor will work in harmony with existing Global Council policies such as the Regional Missionary Program, the International Ministry Policy, and the Policy for Ministers Working or Residing in Another Country.
Prayer for General Conference
I urge every minister and church to participate in focused prayer for the 2023 General Conference to be held September 19–22 at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Let’s seek the will of God for our business meeting, and let’s ask for a special anointing upon our seminars and services. We need to hear from God, and we need a mighty outpouring of the Holy Ghost.
The World Network of Prayer has designated the UPCI World Day of Prayer for Wednesday, September 13, and special fasting for Tuesday through Thursday, September 12–14. Please participate in whatever way you are led to by the Spirit. Your fervent prayers and sacrificial fast will make a difference! We are expecting great things worldwide. Please pray for the great success of the General Conference.
Sincerely in Christ,
David K. Bernard
