Twenty-two UPCI missionaries have returned to their assigned nations earlier than anticipated thanks to a record $5 million in I AM GLOBAL donations that have been received since General Conference 2023.
Prior to the advent of I AM GLOBAL, missionaries typically spent up to two years traveling across North America raising funds and securing sponsors, a process known as deputation. In the past year alone, I AM GLOBAL donations have collectively saved missionaries more than seven years of travel time and $521,889 in travel expenses. UPCI churches will save an estimated $322,080 in hosting costs, for a total savings of nearly $850,000.
“I AM GLOBAL is finishing off budgets, shortening deputation, and providing a way for missionaries to be on the field a higher percentage of the time,” said Global Missions Director Adam Hunley. “This results in stronger works, greater growth and more revival.”

Career missionaries are now averaging six months of deputation and new, or upgrading, missionaries are averaging a year, Hunley added.
I AM GLOBAL pledges were made during the Wednesday, September 20 Global Missions service at General Conference 2023. By June 30, 2024, nearly all the money had been received and missionaries were headed back to their assigned nations.
The list of missionaries who concluded deputation early thanks to the 2023-2024 I AM GLOBAL campaign includes:
- Aaron and Tiffany Anderson
- Daniel and Esther Becerra
- James and Mary Catherine Beek
- Dean and Laureen Byfield

I AM GLOBAL was launched in 2014. In the decade since, the campaign has raised $29 million to return missionaries to the field sooner than expected, saving almost eighty years of travel time and approximately $8.9 million in travel expenses.
Missionaries still rely on Partners in Missions (PIM) for support while serving in their assigned nation. I AM GLOBAL helps ensure that missionaries spend less time traveling to raise funds and more time fulfilling their calling.
“Faithful PIM giving from the North American churches, the I AM GLOBAL offering, and the prayers of the saints are all leading us toward the vision of Pentecost Every Day,” Hunley said, referring to Global Missions’ goal of seeing a sustainable harvest of at least one million disciples annually from every nation and people group.
