The 2023 Move the Mission offering campaign has raised $8,737,279.69, a new single-year record that tops last year’s offering by $413,406.72.
Move the Mission is a fundraising initiative of UPCI Youth Ministries. Donations to Move the Mission help finance missions and ministry projects around the world. Since it was established in 1953, Move the Mission (formerly known as Sheaves for Christ) has raised more than $166 million.
“This could not have happened without the amazing support from leaders on every level and students in the trenches raising funds for the mission,” Youth Ministries President Michael Thomas said of the new record. “Thank you for believing and personally participating in sacrificial giving.”
The historic offering is partly a result of record offerings in thirty-two of fifty-eight districts. Additionally, thirty-eight districts recorded an increase over last year’s total. Louisiana led the way with $650,000, the largest offering ever raised by a district in the history of Move the Mission. Illinois contributed $520,061.96, while the Western ($450,001), Mississippi ($442,673.82), and Missouri ($430,000) districts rounded out the top five.
Six districts raised more than $300,000, including:
- Florida with a record district offering of $380,890.98
- Texas with a record district offering of $335,000
- Arkansas with a record district offering of $327,955.20
- Indiana with a record district offering of $316,163.57
- SoCal with an offering of $303,316
- Oklahoma with a record district offering of $302,500.
Even smaller districts achieved significant gains. The Canadian Plains District saw their offering increase by 146 percent to $50,000, a district record.
Thomas praised district youth presidents for their efforts in promoting this year’s Move the Mission campaign.
“They inspired sectional leaders, pastors, youth, young adults, and entire churches to give generously,” Thomas said. “This year’s offering would not have been possible without their hard work.”
The surge in record district offerings was made possible in part by an increase in the number of “Real McCoys,” individual students who raised at least $1,000 for Move the Mission. Forty-three districts had at least one Real McCoy, and many had a record number of students achieving this distinction.
Additionally, the three top-giving churches were:
- Eureka-The Pentecostal Church (Pastor Jonathan McDonald) – $232,161.50
- Atlanta West Pentecostal Church (Pastor Darrell Johns) – $160,020.23
- Woodlawn Church (Pastor Jerron Carney) – $131,650.32
